\nWind and sinking sun scribble the bay
\nWith fleeting streaks of blue, green, gray.<\/p>\n
No Atlantic lobstermen in my line
\n(Grim faces leathered from the frozen brine),
\nNor any yachtsmen forebears in blue and gold.
\nI stand uneasy in the twilit cold.<\/p>\n
We turn past the point and leave the bay.
\nThe waves foam up and throw the wind their spray,
\nSoaking the windshields in the ferry’s hold.
\nI stand alone in the whipping cold.<\/p>\n
The harbor was not for me; nor was it theirs.
\nThe whole is no one’s, saved for no one’s heirs.
\nIt’s of no account who I may be.
