{"id":4926,"date":"2006-03-15T15:02:49","date_gmt":"2006-03-15T15:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peterlevine.ws\/?p=4926"},"modified":"2006-03-15T15:02:49","modified_gmt":"2006-03-15T15:02:49","slug":"higher-education-civic-mission-civic-effects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peterlevine.ws\/?p=4926","title":{"rendered":"higher education: civic mission &#038; civic effects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and CIRCLE today released a consensus report entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\/research\/areas\/higher_ed.htm\">Higher Education: Civic Mission &#038; Civic Effects.<\/a>&#8221; The report was jointly written by 22 scholars representing the fields of political science, developmental pyschology, sociology, economics, philosophy, research on higher education, and women&#8217;s studies. The scholars met last fall in a conference that we jointly organized with our friends at the Carnegie Foundation. I then managed the drafting-and-revising process that led to the new report.
