I&#8217;ll probably summarize some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterlevine.ws\/mt\/archives\/2004_08_16.html\">points <\/a>I&#8217;ve made here before. Meanwhile, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleveland.com\/search\/index.ssf?\/base\/news\/1094981744319991.xml?nohio\">Cleveland Plain Dealer <\/a>quotes me on the same topic:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Peter Levine, deputy director of CIRCLE, said there are increasing signs that young people are paying attention to this election and that turnout among young Americans could climb.<\/p>\n<p>How many are likely to vote?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think that depends on how the two parties conduct themselves,&#8221; said Levine. &#8220;If it turns into a &#8216;hackfest,&#8217; I think that&#8217;s going to turn off young people.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><b>Update, Sept. 15<\/b>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/09\/15\/politics\/campaign\/15youth.html?hp\">The New York Times <\/a>has a very optimistic front-page story that cites <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\">CIRCLE <\/a>and quotes my colleague Carrie Donovan.
