We were excited, because we had just launched<\/p>\n<p>our report on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicmissionofschools.org\"><i>The Civic<\/p>\n<p>Mission of Schools<\/i><\/a>; John Bridgeland had formally praised it on<\/p>\n<p>behalf of the administration; and it was to be distributed at the Forum.<\/p>\n<p>But with Washington buried under perhaps the biggest snowfall in its recorded<\/p>\n<p>history, the Forum was cancelled. I am, however, delighted to link to<\/p>\n<p>a Sunday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A10603-2003Feb14.html\">article<\/p>\n<p>by David Broder<\/a> that not only endorses <i>The Civic Mission of Schools<\/i>;<\/p>\n<p>it also deftly and accurately summarizes it. And today&#8217;s <i>Washington<\/p>\n<p>Post <\/i>has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A18506-2003Feb16.html\">masthead<\/p>\n<p>editorial <\/a>endorsing the report.
