Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University, with partners. This year&#8217;s theme is defending the frontiers of democracy against undemocratic, xenophobic, and illiberal trends around the world. Some of the time will be spent working with this framework, and others that take different approaches:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/peterlevine.ws\/images\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-11-at-1.19.30-PM-1.png\" width=\"839\" height=\"331\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/frontiers-of-democracy-conference-2017-tickets-31104870505\">Purchase now<\/a> to hold your place. Regular tickets\u00a0cost $240, and there are discounts for current students and Tisch College&#8217;s Community partners. Alumni of the Summer Institute of Civic Studies attend free.<\/p>\n<p>As always, the format of Frontiers is highly interactive; most of the concurrent sessions are \u201clearning exchanges\u201d rather than presentations or panels. We welcome proposals for learning exchanges for 2017. Please use <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSd8Etpu74ic3gAMXgPbfevLf6dvKlzCI4CQ2UyQs922N56h2w\/viewform\">this form to submit ideas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Frontiers is public. It follows immediately after the <a href=\"http:\/\/activecitizen.tufts.edu\/civic-studies\/summer-institute\/\">Summer Institute of Civic Studies<\/a>, a selective 2-week seminar for scholars, practitioners, and advanced graduate students that is capped at 20 participants. Applications for the Institute are being accepted now.
