In the past 12 months, we have released a groundbreaking major report, taken a leadership role in several initiatives to improve civic education, advised and evaluated youth development programs, and even helped design and evaluate an innovative multiplayer game.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, we released the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/2012-13Annual_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">CIRCLE Annual Report<\/a>, which offers an overview of all our work from August 2012 to September 2013. Some highlights:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Released \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\/thats-not-democracy-how-out-of-school-youth-engage-in-civic-life-and-what-stands-in-their-way\/?cat_id=12\" target=\"_blank\">That\u2019s Not Democracy<\/a>,\u201d a study on inequality in civic participation opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Convened the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\/about-circle\/commission-on-youth-voting-civic-knowledge\/\" target=\"_blank\">Commission on Youth Voting and Civic Knowledge<\/a> following the 2012 election<\/li>\n<li>Helped inform the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\/circle-calls-new-college-career-and-civic-life-c3-social-studies-framework-a-step-in-the-right-direction\/\" target=\"_blank\">new \u201cC3&#8243; framework<\/a> for social studies state standards from the National Council for the Social Studies<\/li>\n<li>Provided technical assistance to more than 100 individual organizations<\/li>\n<li>Were referenced nearly 300 times in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicyouth.org\/press\/circle-in-the-news\/\" target=\"_blank\">news media<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Annual Report also looks ahead to the work we will embark on in the near future. For example, we are excited about opportunities to play a role in evaluating and refining emerging tools for civic education like multiplayer games, massive open online courses (MOOCs), and e-portfolios of students\u2019 civic work.<\/p>\n<p>We are extremely grateful to our many friends, funders, colleagues, and collaborators from the past year.
