{"id":10840,"date":"2013-02-11T08:41:35","date_gmt":"2013-02-11T13:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peterlevine.ws\/?p=10840"},"modified":"2013-02-11T08:41:35","modified_gmt":"2013-02-11T13:41:35","slug":"in-north-carolina-to-promote-civic-renewal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peterlevine.ws\/?p=10840","title":{"rendered":"in North Carolina to promote civic renewal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Elon, North Carolina) I am here for meetings at Elon University (with its outstanding <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elon.edu\/e-web\/students\/servicelearning\/welcome.xhtml\">Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement<\/a> and its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elon.edu\/e-web\/students\/civic_engagement\/\">Council for Civic Engagement<\/a>) and then to give eight different talks or workshops as North Carolina Campus Compact convenes people from across the state to talk about civic engagement:<\/p>\n<p>Monday, February 11, 6:00 p.m. The Elon University Service-Learning dinner hosted by President Leo and Mrs. Laurie Lambert.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I will offer \u201c5-8 minutes of affirmation and inspiration.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tuesday, February 12: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elon.edu\/e-web\/org\/nccc\/confMeet-civEngageInst.xhtml\">North Carolina Campus Compact Civic Engagement Institute <\/a>(Moseley Center, Elon University):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9:15 am. My opening plenary: \u201cWhat is citizenship? Changing Perspectives\u201d<\/li>\n<li>10:10-11:10 am. My workshop: \u201cAssessment of Student Learning in Community Engagement \u201c<\/li>\n<li>12:20-1:10 pm: A deliberative dialogue: \u201cSharing our Future.\u201d (I will facilitate one of the circles of up to 20 people)<\/li>\n<li>3:00-3:50 pm: My workshop: \u201cCivic Engagement and Community Information: Five Strategies to Revive Civic Communication\u201d<\/li>\n<li>4:00-4:40 pm. My second plenary: \u201cHow to Accomplish Civic Renewal\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wednesday, February 13: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elon.edu\/e-web\/org\/nccc\/confMeet-PACE.xhtml\">Pathways to Achieving Civic Engagement (PACE) Conference,<\/a> Moseley Center, Elon University<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9:00 am. My plenary session: \u201cThe Next Horizon for Community Engagement Pedagogies: K-16 Civic Education.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>10:30-11:30 am.
